Coronavirus: A New Mission

Laurence Sotsky, CEO

As you would expect of most SaaS platform CEO’s, I am data driven. I look at our user analytics, I look at our sales analytics, I look at the analytics of our analytics. I am at home in the trenches of metatags. I like to work with facts.

So it is through that lens that I want to talk about belief. And more specifically, belief as it pertains to the coronavirus pandemic.

First of all, and to address any potential concerns, Incentify remains 100% open for business with 100% of employees having transitioned to remote work. We have laid no one off, we have no furloughs. We are still onboarding new clients and growing the use of our platform within those already with us. We are still moving full steam ahead in our mission to expand and perfect the execution of enterprise C&I portfolios.

OK, back to belief. As far as I can tell, belief is essentially decision making without sufficient data. One may not know something for sure, but they believe it to be the case so move ahead accordingly. For example, I believe we will emerge from this crisis and that we will all bear some scars, we will move on in a semblance of life more or less similar to the one which at once seems a distant memory yet was in full bloom but a few weeks ago for the vast majority of the world. I believe that. In examining that belief, I am forced to recognize that as much as it is a reasonable guess based on limited data, it is something that feels so much more central to my being than have so many of my data-staunched decisions. This belief is infused with emotion. I want it to be the case. I really want life to be OK again. So, I believe it.

As any data centric decision maker will tell you, humans are emotional creatures. This is fact. Thus, belief is a central part of our consciousness - whether we want to acknowledge that or not. While my previous quasi definition of belief remanded it to a segment of decision making in absence of data, the truth is that belief is a feeling more than anything else. It is a feeling of devotion and safety and purpose. It is our consciousness’s attempt to tether us to a course of action. To believe is not to ignore data in decision making but rather to incorporate humanity.

So it is that Incentify has reframed its mission statement. We have not changed the drive behind it nor the organization bringing it to fruition. Our mission today is the same it ever was only now its statement is more full, more tangible, and more human.

Our mission is to make you believe in C&I.
